Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication: The Denton Owner’s Guide

Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To

Ghost Controls builds two main lines we see in Denton: the automatic gate opener kits (the AXDP and TSS1 series, the DTP1 dual swing, and the sliding gate kits) and the accessories that mount to them, like the post pivot brackets, clevis pins, and control boxes. A note on parts: for Ghost Controls hardware, we recommend genuine OEM hinge brackets and clevis hardware whenever the gate is steel and heavier than 250 pounds. The aftermarket universal plates are cheaper, but we have pulled too many of them off Denton gates with stress cracks around the bolt holes after two or three Texas summers. That doesn’t mean every aftermarket part is junk. It means the Ghost Controls hinge bracket is engineered for the specific pivot distance, and the universal one isn’t.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate drags on the latch side or scuffs the driveway. A torn hinge weld lets the gate panel drop a quarter inch or more. The opener keeps pushing, but the gate is now fighting gravity instead of just pivoting.
• You see a hairline crack or rust weep at a weld joint. Surface rust on steel is normal in North Texas humidity. Rust that bleeds out of a weld, or a crack you can catch with a fingernail, means the weld has already failed structurally. It’s holding by habit, not by strength.
• The opener arm shudders or jerks mid-cycle. Ghost Controls openers expect a gate that pivots smoothly. A broken or bent bracket changes the arc the arm travels, and the motor hunts and jerks trying to compensate.
• The gate bangs or rattles when the wind pushes it. Loose hinge welds let the gate twist. You hear it long before you see it.
• The opener stalls and reverses partway, especially in cold weather. Steel contracts in cold, and a weld that’s fine at 80 degrees can bind at 35. If your Ghost Controls opener only acts up on cold mornings, the gate and the opener are fighting each other. That’s usually a weld or hinge alignment problem, not a motor problem.
